Rails rocks my world…

I’ve always been a bit… pessimistic about Rails and Rails apps. But of course, I am a CodeIgniter boy so that is where my true loyalties lye. But things change. Especially after founding FourthTimeLucky, I’ve been thinking about experimenting as much as possible. You know, it might be interesting to see what Django is like, for example.
When I bought a small, cheap and not very powerful VPS today, I thought “hell, why not?” and proceeded to gem install rails.
One word I can say to you. Wow.
A new knight in shining armour…

You all know the drill when starting a new Wordpress blog. Upload, install, choose a theme, add plugins, add content, enable Askimet. For three? years now, Askimet has been the standard in “spam” protection for Wordpress blogs.
Not just wordpress though - forums, other blogging software, websites have all tapped into the Askimet service. But there is no reason not to, Askimet works, it’s free, and the Wordpress plugin comes with the default WP install. So, great.
But a new boy is on the block, a boy that promises unbeatable spam protection, for free, just like Askimet. But this boy isn’t from Automattic’s mothership. This boy comes from a far off planet, know as “TypePad”.
Ooo, scary.

If this is the first time you have visited my blog, you won’t have noticed a difference. But if you are a seasoned “JamieRumbelow.net-er”, you will be able to easily see that I have changed the theme. And if you scroll right to the bottom, you will see that it says “Juiced by Wordpress”.
I know Derek Allard is going to hate me, but I have made the decision to switch from ExpressionEngine back to Wordpress.
Why, you ask?
Top Five Programming Languages to Learn

The majority of people will learn one or two programming languages, usually a server-side language or an application language such as PHP or C++, and a client-side language like JavaScript. To me it seems much more sense for someone to widen his/her range as much as he can, learn as many languages, to give them a much richer view of code in general.
Here is a list of five programming languages that I defiantly recommend learning!
