I’ve been letting this blog rot for quite a while now, not intentionally, just because like the rest of us I’m unconditionally busy and really need to start dedicating time to writing blog posts and tutorials. Anyway, so I sat down and thought I’d give you wonderful people a quick update on what’s going down in the Rumbelow hood. There are lots of exciting events, happenings and stuff that I’ve either been a part of or been interested in which I was going to write individual blog posts for but didn’t have the time, so here’s a compliation post.

It was a dozy, sunny Saturday when Jamie Rumbelow, an energetic youth bubbling with excitement crossed Trinity Street. He walked with purpose and determination – not knowing quite what he would find when he reached his destination, but knowing why he was going all the same. His best friend and confidant strode next to him, excited and envious. Jamie turned a corner onto a busy Cambridge road, walking fast now, speed increasing all the time as he neared his destination. He entered the shopping complex. Clothing stores and fashionable boutiques lining the walls to either side of him, he dashed down the central route of Grand Arcade, almost sprinting. He turned to his left and dived through a door into the Apple store.

I’ve stumbled upon, (stumbled being a metaphor for falling flat on my face in front of) a fantastic little micro-framework in Ruby. It’s called Sinatra, and any of the big Ruby developers out there will be going “oh I heard of that ages ago”, but me as a humble PHP guy it’s brand new, and frankly, it’s exciting.

The best ever episode of the JamieRumbelowdotnet Podcast, I am finally joined by the great Elliot Haughin. We sit down to discuss the Cyberdyne Bill, Oracle’s purchase of Sun, Geocities (and the death of), and more! We field your questions at the end of the show, and corrospond with a live audience in the chatroom.

This rather short yet sweet episode comes slightly late, but again recorded live. With some excellent user contributions, some interesting stories and a feature on typography, it shaped up to be a pretty good episode after all!
